I’m not talking about industrial robotics, but even in that market it seems the picture isn’t that rosy for Japan. I’m talking about android or pet robots.
ASIMO was created in 2000 and ever since it seems nothing noteworthy came out from Japan.
Fast forward to 2020s and particularly 2024 and there tons of American and Chinese companies with very impressive robots. But I don’t hear anything coming out from Japan.
From a tech industry perspective there have been good news and visible progress with the TSMC partnership to revive Japan’s semiconductor industry. I’m mentioning this here because this is a cutting edge industry.
But when it comes to android robotics it seems the sector has died out. What’s going on in the land of mecha?
Does the government has any plans to turn the tides?
