Is Chureito Pagoda really worth it?

So I’m going to Japan for the first time in a couple of weeks, and one topic made me kind of anxious when researching about day-trips to Mt. Fuji from Tokyo.

I’ve seen a video about visiting Chureito Pagoda during cherry blossom season where the guy had to stand in line for quite a while only to be rushed out of the viewing terrace by the local workers after 5 minutes, to assumingly make room for new people and keep the queue moving.

To be honest, that must have felt like sh\*t. If you don’t book the train/bus tickets in advance, you can’t really go because everything is sold out and packed. If you book in advance, there is a very high chance the weather is terrible and you don’t get to see anything of Mt. Fuji, making the entire day completely pointless.

In another post, someone mentioned buying a train ticket to Otsuki (because evereything else was sold out), but then having to face a monstrous line to take the next leg of the trip from Otsuki to Kawaguchiko station, to the point where they gave up, exited the station and rented a car.

For anyone that has already planned for a Mt. Fuji day trip from Tokyo during cherry blossom season before, I’d \*really\* love your honest opinion. Is the whole experience that miserable, only to get a couple minutes’ worth of the nice view? Is there somewhere else “less risky” than Kawaguchiko to get good views of Mt. Fuji with sakura? Is my inexperienced point of view biased in some way? Any comments, be them encouraging or discouraging, about this topic?

Thank you very much in advance!
