Student, Crypto Tax Question

I’m (25m) a US citizen, scheduled to get my student visa to study in Tokyo for 2 years starting in April. I’ve got a few crypto wallets, one of which has been inactive for a year so it would be considered a long term hold for lower tax that I’ve DCA’d into every month for the last 4 years. The other has been traded to $20k USD in the last 2 months, and would like to continue with this market with plans to exit around next October-April depending on the market outlook.

I’m curious if since I’d be entering Japan after January of this year, would I need to pay any taxes on any profits along with US taxes or does it depend on which country’s bank I use to exit my positions? Is exiting my positions before the end of the year more beneficial?

I’ve dug around the internet and haven’t found any info on people who started their positions before entering the country, I hope one of you would help clarify this grey area for me.
