I am recently facing this conundrum of choosing between Rakuten and an IT services company for my next career move. I think both the companies might have their merits and demerits.
Assuming all other things equal, I am looking if there any reasons to completely steer clear of Rakuten. From what I gather here in this Sub that Rakuten and its culture might be a bad fit, depending on the department of course.
Somebody here please comment if Rakuten is a good company to choose compared an western IT services company?

Rakuten is a good stepping stone into other companies in Japan due to the large scale of its business and recognition. From what I’ve seen, it’s not a place to stay 5+ years if you have other options. Salaries will be some of the lowest for the internet companies.
