Hello,
I recently opened an account with Rakuten Securities and started investing in US ETFs through a NISA account, buying them with yen. I’m encountering a bit of confusion regarding the value gain/loss, and I hope some experienced investors can shed some light on this.
Currently, my ETFs are showing a gain of 44 USD. However, when I check the potential amount I would get if I sell, it’s only 1,518 円 based on the current exchange rate of 147.87 円/USD. This doesn’t seem to add up, as by my calculations, I should be gaining 6,506.28 円.
I’m trying to understand if the 4,988.28 円 difference is due to selling fees which seems a lot or if there’s something else I’m missing in the calculation. Can anyone share insights or experiences with Rakuten Securities and clarify how these calculations work? I want to make sure I fully understand the potential gains and any associated fees before making any decisions.
I am not looking to sell or anything. I just want to understand why there is a huge difference between the USD and yen gain/loss values
