When my wife returns from Japan…

  1. My wife returned from visiting her family and brought all kinds of snacks and candy, several types of miso, dried apricots and ume, four varieties of tare, three kinds of ramen, a variety pack of spicy miso soup base, and a number of other goodies.

I am defrosting a pork shoulder to make chashu for ramen night. So excited to have her back home!

  2. I used to do this whenever coming back from Japan too loll but I also included beauty products! That chicken ramen back there is the bessttt I grew up with it and you can’t find it in the states anymore. Does it still have a dip in the middle of the ramen to add the egg so it stays beautifully in the center of the bowl?

  3. I have had the pleasure of eating a Tokyo banana once, and I’ve been dreaming about it ever since

  4. How did you get the chicken ramen through customs?! I’ve stopped trying since it always triggers a red flag for chicken broth once I land in the US.

  5. Dude this is nothing. When we travel there we bring empty suitcases to pack full of goodies.

  6. Great, great stuff!
Being mixed japanese, married to a Japanese descendant, we both being brazilian (the second largest japanese community in the world), owning a japanese restaurant… I can only love that!
I’m glad to have a few of those items in my kitchen. Both at home and work.

  7. my wife went back for the first time in two years in April. the haul she brought back for the neko was nearly as impressive as the foodstuff for humans.

  8. This would probably be me.

I don’t know why, but this kind of thing is really, really sweet and heartwarming to me.

I’d like to experience more Japanese culture soon, once I can make my way back over there. It speaks to my heart and my soul.

  9. I can see , she dgaf abt u….. Lmao XDDDD
Anyways what she bought for u ??

  10. When i see that Mitsuya cider candy. I cry a little inside. I don’t want to spend 400% getting the candy and drink in the states.

I always roll the dice when bringing back the packages of food from my trips there that have meat in them. So far they haven’t been confiscated..

  11. I used to work in Germany and when I had the chance to go back to Japan, my suitcase was always filled with snacks.

Many times I saw the custom guy at the arriving airport shrugging when he saw that I had nothing but snacks inside. XD

  12. My dad work offshore to japan, when he returned he always bring lots of snack like this.

  13. Chicken ramen was my favorite instant ramen growing up, impossible to find in the states 🙁
