Puro is short for pro.
Nobody says they like watching PRO.
Puroresu is already the short form of Puroresuringu.
You like Puroyakyu? That’s pro baseball.
Nobody calls it just “pro”.

I think it’s something inherit in Japanese culture where they’ll truncate phrases or words. Like “Puroresu” is truncated Japanese pronunciation of pro-wrestling.

Sadly i dont talk to enough people about wrestling in person to even know that term existed lol i just spell it out when/if it comes up. If anything it graduates as people start understanding wtf im talking about.

Nooj is a phonetic shorthand nickname for *NEWJ* -apan pro wrestling, like how The Fed is a shorthand nickname for WWE (admittedly an old nickname from when it was the WWF).
People who get upset by these nicknames are not to be taken seriously, because they’re buzzkill dorks.
I wish some of our posters would stop trying to make Nooj a thing.

Nooj sounds odd. Removes more context than just calling it New Japan, which in short hand already is removing context.

Never heard anyone say that, ever and I first watched new Japan on tape and the first match i watched on YouTube was Lesnar vs Angle and I never heard ANYONE call it nooj and I’m never going to call it that
