I will be moving to Tokyo end of this month. I’ve been looking at share houses for a while but haven’t made a decision yet. Today I had a video call with Share Style and I really liked the house. It looked like a good place, from what I heard people get along well, everyone follows the house rules, they hold monthly potluck parties, etc.
However I was surprised to learn that they don’t hire a cleaning service, and all the tenants have a joint responsibility to keep the house clean. They even have a chore wheel and everything.
I was under the impression that share houses usually come with a weekly cleaning service. Is it common for a share house to not have a cleaning service? Have you lived in a share house with this arrangement? Did everyone in the house pull their weight?
I really really like this house a lot, and my only gripe is not having a cleaning service. I’m on a fence whether to go for it or not.
