Unoriginal at this point
Still looks better than 99% of the places in the city I come from.
The writer of San’ya Blues got started on his book after a bunch of these guys almost beat the shit out of him for taking their picture without permission.
Just saying, a lot of these folks don’t look they’re ok with being photographed.
Yawn. About 40-years too late.
Eastern Europe but Japanese
Poverty porn.
Still cleaner than the poorest neighborhood in my city
There is Tokyo poor then there is the rest of the world poor.
Drinking Strong Zero, playing shoji in the middle of the afternoon. These guys got it made!
Tokyo is so CLEAN. Sheesh!
This is cleaner than the richest neighborhoods in my country.
Also in Sanya (and from the same photographer), Tokyo’s most insane-looking hotel: https://www.tokyotimes.org/an-overgrown-and-crumbling-old-tokyo-hotel/
What’s the chances the piece of shit with the camera actually asked any of these people if he could take their photos?
Poverty pornographer.
The picture of the guys playing shogi in the street goes hard
Let’s compare this with other major cities.
So, FYI, according to the camera douche in the Comments section of that, they all consented to the photos by not objecting to being suddenly photographed, and whether that is acceptable is all a matter of opinion. So, he admits to being a sophomoric middling class relativist parasite, and does it in a schmarmy self-congratulatory tone, which makes him a stupe as well as a slug.
u/biwook Was there any good reason to post this 5 year old poverty porn drivel from an obvious middling class ladeeda halfwit?
Just curious, of course
It’s not so much poor as it is old and undeveloped. The property prices on houses and mansions in the area are very standard for suburban Tokyo.
Still looks richer than France
Can anyone enlighten me about sanya?
Is this a relict from the past that the these kind of areas are called sanya and are spread around?
I can not find any information where it is actually located
I went down there once and didn’t get the fuss about it. It was just a dull shitamachi type area similar to it’s surroundings. It’s a dull chunk of Tokyo if you ask me, depressing even because you can see various ready to close down shops and shotengai. The only memorable thing was that I wandered to the soapland district by mistake.
That was a sad read. It’s a childish, mean, and ultimately foolish attitude to look down on anyone because of their job. Unfortunately still imbedded in most cultures. “Burrakumin” jobs are work that has to get done by SOMEBODY, or the work wouldn’t get done. The worst kinds of people in my mind are acute elitists.
Lol why is it ALWAYS the east side??? It’s the same story in so many cities…London, LA, St. Louis,.. all the major cities in Canada. Th east side is usually the poorest. I know there are exceptions but it’s definitely a trend
Waiting for all the comments trying to misdirect attention towards other countries.
What kind of intention do you expect to express through this picture, Gaijinsan? It doesn’t tell me anything, not impressive at all. Go home wherever you belong.
