Two week itinerary check


Hello! We’re a group of three headed to the far east for the first time. Was a last minute plan, so would appreciate any suggestions / tips. We haven’t booked JR passes yet as we weren’t sure if we’d be saving money by taking it.

Day 1 | Narita to Kyoto

– Arrive at Narita Airport, go to a bank at the airport to exchange USD TO JPY
– Go to Tokyo City (by bus?), buy some thermal wear, and take a train to Kyoto
– Check in to hotel in Shijo
– Kyoto Localised night walk

Day 2 | Kyoto

– Take the Kyoto localised flagship walking tour
– Explore Philosopher’s Path and visit nearby temples
– Visit Kyoto Botanical Garden, Nishiki Market, and explore the Craft Beer scene

Day 3 | Kyoto

Day 4 | Kyoto

– Trip to Uji
– Maybe Nara too to see the deer

Day 5 | Koyasan

– Check out and go to Koyasan
– Chill at the monastery hotel and walk around the locality

Day 6 | Osaka

– Check out and go to Osaka
– Do the Osaka Localized Walking Tour (we love walking tours :D)
– No clue what next (shopping perhaps)

Day 7 | Osaka

– Booked an Airbnb experience for the evening (bar crawl)

Day 8 | Osaka; Day trip to Kanazawa

– Explore Kanazawa in as much time as we can manage there (Have to catch the last train back to Osaka)
– Weighing between Kanazawa or Hiroshima + Miyajima

Day 9 | Tokyo

– Checkout and catch a train to Tokyo
– Stay at Kagurazaka, explore neighbourhood
– Visit Kissas (Jazz Bars)
– Tokyo Localized night walk

Day 10 | Tokyo

– Mt Fuji
– Fuji Q Highland
– Weighing between Fuji and Mt Aso

Day 11 | Tokyo

– Imperial Palace walking tour
– Need to figure which streets to explore

Day 12 | Tokyo

– Go to teamlabs and visit the fish market near to it
– Explore bakeries like Centre the Bakery
– Shibuya night walk

Day 13 | Tokyo

– Go ham on ramen, and shopping (mostly clothes, vintage audio gear if possible)
– Shimokitazawa for thrift stores

Day 14 | Tokyo

– Moar shopping if we’ll have any space left 🙂
– Adios!

As a group we’re big on heritage walks, music, food ofc, museums, and indigenous crafts.
