Hello everyone!
We just booked our flights yesterday for an 11-day trip from April 8th to April 19th and I’m looking for help/recommendations on our VERY rough outline for our trip!
This will be my second time in Japan(I did a solo 10-day trip back in 2018 after graduating college) but it’ll be the first for my little brother and father(this will only be his second time outside of North America) so I really want to make it a good one.
While my brother and I are both in our late 20’s and have relatively similar interests(anime/manga, video games)it’s been a bit of a challenge trying to find things that would be interesting for both us and our almost-70 dad. While he’s told us several times that he’s just along for the ride and he’ll go along with whatever we do I don’t want to have him fly across the Pacific Ocean just to be bored for two weeks.
As I said earlier we just booked our flights yesterday so this outline will be VERY rough but as it stands right now:
Tokyo(3 nights, April 9th-11th):
\- Akihabara/Shinjuku/Ikebukero/Shibuya
\- Tokyo DisneySea
\- Yokohama F.Marinos match night of the 11th
\- Imperial Palace
\- Mount Takao(my Dad says he wants to go on some hikes and he’s in relatively good shape so I thought this would be a good idea)
\- Meiji Temple/Yoyogi Park
\- Toyosu Fish Market
\- Tokyo Tower
\-Gundam Museum
\- Possibly day trip across the bay to visit our hometown’s sister city in Chiba
My dad’s birthday is on the 10th so I would greatly appreciate any recommendations for good Japanese restaurants in Tokyo we could take him to!
Osaka(4 nights, April 12th-15th):
\- Day trip to Kyoto
\- Day trip to Nara
\- Orix Buffalos NPB game
\- Dotonbori
\- Osaka Castle
\- Asahi Brewery Tour
Hakone(2 nights, April 16th and 17th)
\- Visit the natural hot springs
\- Gora Park
\- Owakudani
\- Lake Asahi boat ride
We’re intending Hakone to be our place to relax and unwind before we fly back home so we’re probably not gonna do as much. We’re willing to splurge a bit on accommodations these two nights if anyone has any good recommendations for nice Ryokans with private onsens!
Tokyo(1 night, April 18th and Morning of April 19th):
\- Basically anything we missed the first time around before we fly out the afternoon of the 19th.
