Clarification tips and ideas

1. Are there cheap accommodation for 2 (my brother and I) we plan to stay for at least 2 weeks. Are there hostels or even the ability to stay with locals.

2. Are a suica pass and a metro card the same thing or are they different and if so which is better. Can you get to different cities without something like a JR pass (sendia to tokyo). Ive heard alot of people say you have to get a jr pass, but those only work for specific trains. So which would be the better option.

3. What are some good nature spots, ive seen so many beautiful pictures of kyoto, but what are some other suggestions.

4. Is it ok to carry around a bookbag, for what ever we buy. Or even for a change of shoes.

5. Do most restaurants take a card or is it cash only, what about vendors.

6. When is the best time for cherry blossoms in kyoto. If there are other places that someone has really liked seeing them please let me know.

7. Are there any rules i should know regarding minors. My brother will only be 15. Im going to be 25 so the family is fine with me taking him.

I want to say that language shouldnt be an issue, ive been learning Japanese and actually found out im decent at it. Im having my brother study up on cultural aspects as well. I am a firm beliver that if your are traveling somewhere, you should try to work with that areas culture as much as possible.
