Hi all,
I am making enquiries on behalf of my friend who is currently setting up plans to visit Japan in hopes of obtaining a business start up visa.
BACKGROUND
My friend wishes to relocate to Japan later in the year to set up a business that organsies battle-on-demand dance competitions (think something along the lines of Bull Dance Battle). His partner in Japan (who already has an active business) is working on finding sponsors and investors but it may take some time.
My friend plans to set up his own company to operate as a joint venture with his Japanese based partner.
Ahead of my friend’s departure from America in the coming months, he’s signed up for Japanese classes with a remote tutor, commencing next week
The goal is to acquire conversational proficiency within one- six months.
QUESTIONS
I have a few questions please and would really appreciate your input :
1) Is the above timeframe of one – six months realistic or does he need to build in more time? Also could you please share any tips that could aid in fast tracking the learning process?
2) Regarding the business start up visa, I understand based on his research, that applicants are required to produce only a solid business plan to support applications in that visa category. He also mentioned that the current capital and employee/office requirements will be waived under a revised visa program set to be approved by the Japanese government this year.
My friend will of course consult with a local lawyer but I thought this might be a good place to start off and get any tips from fellow immigrants.
Thanks very much and look forward to any feedback you would graciously be willing to offer.
