Shirouma dake – nagano mid June. Mt Fuji – July

Hi!

I’m planning to go to Japan from mid June to mid July (alone) and wanted to hike Shirouma-dake. I’m not new to hiking, though I’ve never used crampons. I’ve been reading about it but I’m not sure. Is Shirouma-dake doable/safe mid June? Or should I wait till early July?

Are there any other cool hikes you’d recommend in Nagano around mid June?

The plan was to do Nagano, then go to Hokkaido and return to Tokyo to hike mt Fuji around mid July, but I could also do Hokkaido first, then Nagano then Fuji.

Also, re: mount Fuji. I’ve read you can do it from early July onwards, other sites say from mid July, I’d like to be sure before I book my flight out of Japan. Does any one know for sure or does it just depend on the weather that year?

Thank you for your answers!
