First I want to put a disclaimer that I am not Japanese and my Japanese is of course not perfect but I’ve been noticing a common theme.
Every week I go to meet up groups where the intention is to learn Japanese and one thing I’ve noticed is that a lot of people learning Japanese even if it’s for a few months or even more than a year all seem to face a problem with pronunciation.
Once in a blue moon you get a unicorn who’s amazing but that’s like 1 in every 100 people.
So are people studying without actually learning the correct pronunciation or is it that people think the way they are saying a word is correct in their head?
I think it’s probably more useful to practice e pronunciation before jumping into something like pitch accent.
