Night Owl in Japan: Seeking Non-Nightlife Activities in Osaka and Tokyo

I’ve got a bit of an unusual situation. I’m heading to Osaka and Tokyo for a week, and due to work commitments (working 9-5 EST), my schedule will be quite unconventional. Although I’ll be working during what’s nighttime in Japan, I’ll have a couple of days off in mid week to explore (?). To avoid jet lag for my workdays, I plan to stick to an EST sleep schedule, meaning I’ll be awake from around 9 PM to noon Japan time.

Given this unique timing, I’m on the hunt for recommendations on what I can do during these off-hours. I’m not particularly interested in the nightlife scene but still want to make the most of my trip without feeling like it was wasted. I’ve thought about 24-hour manga cafes but am looking for more options. Also, I assume most shrines and temples won’t be open at night, right?

Any advice or suggestions on activities or sights that fit this unusual schedule would be greatly appreciated!
