Why does ヒンメル translate to “Himmel” ?

I bought the first volume of 葬送のフリーレン and trying to decipher the first few pages.
I was under the assumption that Himmel would be spelt as ヒッメル for some reason.

Is this an artistic choice, or perhaps the translation to English made more sense as “Himmel” instead of “Hinmel” ?

Should I expect katana with メ following a ン to be considered a double “mm” in the future? (Or any other ‘m’ sound for that matter)
