Tokyo neighbourhood for … second time visitors!

Hello all. My husband and I visited Tokyo in 2016, and enjoyed staying in Akasaka-Mitsuke (quiet in the evening, well-connected) and Shimbashi (cool being near what was then Tsukiji market, and walking distance to Ginza).

We are returning for another trip this September. We want to be somewhere that’s not too difficult to reach from Haneda when we arrive, and not too far from the Shinkansen station for a trip to Osaka later in the itinerary. While we loved spending time in Shinjuku and Shibuya, I think they’re too busy / popular to stay there.

Ideally we’d like somewhere with a nice selection of bars / restaurants and nice vibe, but on the quieter side (relative to Tokyo, obviously). I wonder if we’re missing some relatively unfashionable areas that would really suit us? Would welcome any suggestions.
