I will be taking this post down in the morning, but I feel the need to post it in this moment.

My presence here has, unfortunately, been sporadic of late due to numerous unresolved physical and emotional health issues, but I continue to lurk from time to time, and in the past 24-48 hours I have had to be more active than I would typically allow myself to be because a very small minority of posters seem to be **incapable of carrying on a civil, objective discussion without resorting to gratuitous and unjustified insults and invective** toward other users who are **invariably just simply expressing a different point of view**.

This is just a friendly reminder that **this sort of immature and unproductive behavior is not welcome in this community, and will be dealt with switly and harshly**. **This is non-negoatiable.**

It is entirely possible to disagree with someone and express a contrary opinion without hurling ad hominem attacks at them. Functioning adults in society — both in Japan and around the world — do it **literally every single day**.

Let it be known that if anyone here is incapable of doing the same and showing their fellow contributors **even a modicum of common decently**, then they **are not welcome here and will be subjected to muting and/or bans at the moderators’ discretion.**

To reiterate, this is **completely separate from** the merits (or lack thereof) of whatever point you happen to be arguing / question you are asking, etc. In other words, **it doesn’t matter who is “right” or “wrong” (or neither, as there are shades of grey in every argument).**

**What matters is whether or not you are able to interact with other human beings on an internet forum without being — for lack of a better word — a total a\*\*hole.**

If you can interact with your fellow Japanese enthusiasts as a civil, rational adult, then you are welcome here. If you are not, your presence in this community will be a short-lived one. End of story.
