Unicorn Overlord and more than a hundred game jrpg game script available

Hello there !

When I started to learn japanese, one of the goal was to be able to play or replay some jrpgs. However when I started learning, there wasn’t much available. Just one topic with links for 10 game scripts. So I started to look for them and collect them.

\- Sometimes, somebody made the dump of the game, and the text was available, sometimes I did it myself.

\- For Animal Crossing, and Persona 5 for example, I asked on this subreddit and thanks to collective effort, we got something usable.

\- The latest addition being Unicorn Ovelord, there’s now more than a hundred availlable.

Here’s the [link](https://docs.google.com/spreadsheets/d/1ukDIWSkh_xvpppPbgs1nUR2kaEwFaWlsJgZUlb9LuTs/edit#gid=0).

Now, be aware that they come in different shapes:

\- A transcript will be in chronological order, as you play the game.

\- A game dump will be in a random order (usually by locations)

How to extract the text, and how usable it is, will vary from game to game.

In some cases, script for both japanese and english align, so I was able make spreadhseet with one column for each, making it easy to use as you play the game.

That’s mostly the pokemon games, Final Fantasy Pixel Remasters, Persona. In some cases, since I’ve made anki decks, I realigned the text manually (Ni No Kuni, Yo-Kai Watch, Dragon Quest, Chrono Trigger…)

So, how to use ?

We now have OCR or text hooker that can help you, but otherwise, if you want to know the definition of a word, you can use Ctrl+F to look for the sentence. If you combine it with 10ten or other online dictionnary, game becomes easier to play. When I could, I added a column for the location of the text to find things more easily.

I also use the text to find the difficulty of the game, or use Morphman to learn new words based on frequency.

If you fill you can improve on it, and want to be able to edit the spreadsheet so that it can help other people, let me know.

I hope you find this useful.

Cheers,
