Kabukiza Ticket Question

I’m traveling to Tokyo in a few weeks and was interested in getting kabuki tickets one of the evenings I’m there at Kabukiza. I’m not sure if I’ll want to watch the whole performance, but I think I’d like the option to. My question is, if I book tickets in advance for the whole evening performance, how does only attending part of the performance work? Am I able to easily leave after the first performance, for example? If I end up only wanting to see the 2nd or 3rd performance, am I able to arrive at those times and still get in? Any advice or insight is much appreciated! Thanks everyone!

  1. If you want to watch the whole thing your seats are in a different section than just the one act seats. The first act is still pretty long about an hour or so, forgot to check.

  2. You can book the ticket for the whole evening performance and come and go during the breaks between each acts. They usually put up a detailed schedule on the website a little in advance (looks like [this](https://www.kabuki-bito.jp/theaters/kabukiza/play/866) for the current March show. It’s in Japanese but you can see the time table) so you can see when to go. Just do not try to get in or out during the acts that’s bad manner.

ETA: if you’re thinking about the April show at Kabukiza, the evening programme is very very good with Tamasaburo and Nizaemon, two of the top stars at the moment. The second act Kanda Matsuri is probably the must see, while the first act will be good too with quite different vibe. I’d say you don’t have to stay for the last act if you find it too long.
