Hi all! Me and my partner have recently moved to Minami-Ku for the next eleven months for our working holiday visas. We spent three months in Japan last year and loved every second; hence coming back for more! (Our house is gorgeous and just off the main road Aburanokoji-dori. Great neighbours too – quiet oldies <3)
We love the chill vibes of Kyoto – and the Gion/Karasuma/Northern area is lovely and amazing and has all the main sights; but you never hear much of the Southern area. We’ve already scouted around Toji Temple (and planning on hitting up the sakura illuminations once they’ve bloomed) – doing our weekly groceries at Aeon Mall (a five minute walk away – which is great!).
We haven’t really checked out Kyoto Station area much at all yet – so that’s definitely on the list.
Anyone live(d) around this area and have some handy tips and tricks to the Minami area? For example – could we walk the riverside all the way to Gion or are there obstructions in the way? Stuff like that. Thanks all! Much love.
