We are travelling at end of March where we will go from Osaka to Hakone. Looking to take the shinkansen from Shin-Osaka to Odawara and transferring to tozan line from there.
I just looked on SmartEX and there’s a Hikari 642 that will leave Shin-Osaka and get to Odawara. Tickets are 17,720 yen for green car.
If I change the destination to Shinagawa and choose Hikari 642 again the Hayatoku-3-green wide discount pops up and tickets are 15,940 yen for green car.
So, I’m wondering if I could buy the ticket all the way to Shinagawa but get off at Odawara instead? When I try to exit the train station at Odawara, would my ticket let me or will I be charged extra? I’ve read that if I get off at an intermediary station, the ticket will be invalid for further travel, but I won’t need to go any further than Odawara.
