Is it possible to teach subjects besides English in Japan as a foreigner?

Hi everybody, I’m trying to find out the requirements for becoming a teacher in Japan, so I can adequately prepare. However, I haven’t been able to find a single resource about teaching subjects other than English as a foreigner. While I know that English is the most popular subject to teach for native speakers, I would prefer to teach a subject like history, math, or literature.

Would having Japanese as my second language hinder employment opportunities? Or would it not matter, as long as I can speak fluently? Also, would an American degree in something like math be accepted in Japan, or would I have to get my degree from a Japanese college instead?

Thank you for your time.
