Hi, I’m planning a trip to Japan with my toddler in May/June. When I visited Japan without my toddler, I was able to see and do a lot, often without much time for meals due to rushing around to see everything. This time, with my toddler being around 8-9 months old, I plan to travel at a slower pace, allowing for rest in the parks when needed.

Instead of visiting multiple cities, I’ve decided to focus on main points and travel more between Tokyo and Kyoto. I’m undecided about getting a JR Pass and will calculate whether it’s worth it.

I’ve marked a few places in my spreadsheet as “visit in the evening” or “photos only”, anticipating that I may need to leave the hotel room alone to take some photos without my daughter.

I’ve had to skip some places like Matsushima or trails that may be difficult with a stroller, and I’m unsure if my daughter would enjoy sitting in a “backpack”. It’s always a bit of a gamble with her.

In addition to the main plan, I have a few side trips in mind that we can take depending on the weather or how we feel.

After reading this post on traveling with a toddler in Japan (https://www.reddit.com/r/JapanTravel/comments/1434n4m/trip\_report\_19\_days\_in\_japan\_with\_an\_infant\_and\_a/), I feel like I have a good idea of what to expect. What are your thoughts on this plan? Do you think we should consider adding other activities or rearranging our itinerary? Thank you.
