My friend and I had planned 8 nights in Kyoto at end of March, with two day trips to Nara and Osaka. We already booked a hotel, but we realized that long in Kyoto was a bit much, so kind of last minute we decided to visit Hiroshima and Okunoshima (Rabbit island). Does this Kyoto-Hiroshima-Okunoshima-Kyoto plan make sense?
**Day 1:**
* Morning: Kyoto Station to Hiroshima Station via Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen (\~1 hour and 40 minutes, 11940 Yen)
* We’ll be staying at a hostel just south of the peace park and travelling light
* Peace Memorial Park
* Peace Museum
* Atomic Bomb Dome
* Hiroshima Gokoku Shrine
* Miyajima > Itsukyshima Shrine and explore Momijidani Park
* Back to the city (last ferry to Miyajima-guchi Port at 20:15), eat dinner, sleep at the hostel
**Day 2:**
* Check out of hostel
* Hiroshima to Tadanoumi (town with ferry to rabbit island)
* Option 1: High speed: Kaguya Hime bus. \~1.5 hours, 1500 Yen. Buses to Tadanoumi leaves 9:12 and 13:52
* Alternatively same bus route has more frequent service to Takehara, then take Kure line train to Tadanoumi. Same cost, same time spent travelling (not including time between the transfer)
* Option 2: Tokdaido-Sanyo bullet train to Mihara station, then Kure line train to Tadanoumi. 1 hour, 3800 yen. Saving the half hour doesn’t seem worth the increase in fare though and we’re not getting a JR pass. We’re not travelling enough in a 7 day period to make the pass worth it.
* Buy rabbit food in town, take Tadanoumi ferry to Okunoshima/rabbit island (15 minutes, 360 Yen)
* Explore island and gas museum
* Ferry back (last two ferries to Tadanoumi are 18:20 and 19:15 if I’m reading their timetable right)
* Tadanoumi to Kyoto via Mihara:
* Tadanoumi to Mihara Staion by Kure line train
* Mihara Station to Kyoto Station: Tokaido-Sanyo Shinkansen
* Eat dinner in Kyoto, night time activity like Yasaka Shrine
* Back to our hotel near Kyoto Station

I was originally thinking of adding Himeji and realized that was not doable unless we cut out rabbit island (I would rather go to the island). That could be a third day trip out of Kyoto.
Is that too much in day 1? Anything in Hiroshima I should do in day 1 or morning of day 2?
