Japan exclusive watch shopping

Thinking mostly of Seikos and G Shocks here but any suggestions on watch stores around Tokyo that would have possible Japan exclusive versions?

  1. Not a Japanese brand, but Swatch stores always have one or more styles specific to the city they are in.

I know the stores in Tokyo had some recently.

  2. The best bet for models that are not completely sold out is to go to large [Bic Camera](https://www.biccamera.com/bc/main/) or [Yodobashi](https://www.yodobashi.com/) locations, e.g. at Shinjuku, Akihabara, etc. (I believe the largest Bic is actually near Yurakucho station).

It’s not that they’ll have Japanese exclusive versions… they have and *will only have* Japanese domestic models. Many versions which are popular overseas are not actually available in Japan, so some tourist get disappointed.

Any Bic or Yodobashi can pull stock from their other stores, if the store you visit is out of stock of a certain model still in inventory elsewhere.

For Seiko specifically you might be interested to visit the [Seiko Dream Square](https://dreamsquare.seikowatches.com/jp-en/) in Ginza.

[Ginza Wako](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Wako_(retailer)) next door is known for having high-end watches, Seiko and otherwise. If I recall there’s an annex right next to Seiko Dream Square, then the main store is a block down at the Seiko House Clock Tower location.

Plus there’s a [brand new Grand Seiko Flagship Boutique](https://watchilove.com/grand-seikos-largest-flagship-boutique-in-japan-opens-in-ginza) a few blocks away on Namiki street.

You might also want to visit the many watch shops at the [Nakano Broadway](https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Nakano_Broadway).

  3. as a watch man, i totally agreed with the comment above. Ginza Wako.
Rather of just going to find Japan exclusive, what are your budget and model, brands for watches?

If you just want the “made in japan” logo, go to
Donkihote shop any 4th floor they have small watch corners hanging on a rack, 2000yen each with a big “japan” sticker. Perfect low budget gifts

  4. Go to Yodobashi Camera and see their watch section. You will find Citizen, Casio or Seikos limited editions, some are around $1k but if course there are more for more money.

  5. Casio Oceanus models – at most big electronic retailers like box camera and Yodobashi

  6. The Sun Flame watches they sell at Komeri and Kohnan are Japan Made with Japan Made guts and that Martin the Martian Electrowave Synchroniser Beam, and they are under 10K. They have cowhide strap and Diver Band type models.

  7. I saw a decent selection of G-Shocks at the Loft in Shibuya. I don’t follow the watch scene, but I do remember seeing some “special” G-Shocks there. Not sure if they were Japan exclusive or just special editions.

Yodabashi and Bic Camera have large watch departments as well.

  8. Do you guys know if there are good stores at the Narita airport? I want to get a Seiko but unfortunately my layover is 3 hours only so I won’t have time to go shopping.
