We unfortunately can’t say Ohtani didn’t have any involvement in this. Crazy start of the season.
Imagine having the best interpretation job in the world and throwing it all away to lose money on gambling.
Welp, now I know what the news is going to be about for the next two weeks. Earthquakes? LDP sex parties? Not when our boy Shohei is in trouble!
I’ll never understand gamblers. This guy got paid $300-500k a year and still ran up 5 mill in debt. Bro, you won the lottery already with your annual salary. People can never be content with what they have
Sounds like the FBI have evidence to prosecute Ohtani for wire fraud if they wish (the funds were wired from Ohtani’s bank account to the bookie). Ohtani’s camp had Ippei give an interview with ESPN in which he admitted Ohtani directly sent the wires under Ippei’s supervision. Then a day later, Ohtani’s camp says nah it was stolen? Ohtani’s credibility is now in the gutter. Wire fraud carries a max prison sentence of up to 20 years. However, I think Japan state department will apply diplomatic pressure to the US state department to drop any prosecution against Ohtani.
Suspicions were raised when someone bet 700 million dollars on 17 black at The Bellagio.
Is this in Japanese news?
So, will Mizuhara return to the US from Korea to face criminal charges, or will he fly back to Japan after the Korea series?
How is Japanese media reacting to this?
Can they fire his personal interpreter? I mean, wasn’t the contract always between Ohtani and him?
Probs taking the blame for Shohei.
Is this diversion from “Sexy” LDP frat party?
Once you get married in Japan. The wife immediately takes over the finances, pretty sure her audit brought this to the forefront. Unfortunately this means that his former interpreter still won’t be able to get a decent haircut.
Can’t say I blame him. Sportsbetting advertising is unregulated there to the point where they’re able to target kids, and it’s intertwined with almost every sport. I guess that’s it for his professional career then?
