Hi everyone, long time lurker first time poster here. My fiancé and I (she is a Japanese citizen living here in the US with me) are planning to move back to Japan after I finish up my degree next year. I was diagnosed with ADHD when I was a kid and largely went un-mediceted for most of my childhood. 2 and half years ago when I decided to re-enroll into school I thought maybe it would be a good idea to give ADHD medicine a try again so my doctor prescribed Straterra (non-stimulant) to me and let me tell you, it made the biggest difference in my life and now I don’t think I can live without it as crazy as it sounds.
My main anxiety is how difficult will it be to continue to get Straterra prescribed to me once I’m in Japan? My fiancé speaks Japanese fluently so a language barrier isn’t much of an issue. I obviously can provide proof of being prescribed Straterra in the US and proof of my ADHD diagnosis. But what sort of hoops do I have to jump through to get my Straterra once I’m in Japan? Is it as easy as going to a doctor and just giving them all my documentation and then walking out the door with a prescription or will I need to be re-evaluated and go through a lengthy complicated process?
TLDR; Been on Straterra for 2.5 years in the US for diagnosed ADHD. How easy is it and what is the process to continue getting Straterra once I’m in Japan?
