Personal Opinions with Eikaiwa Working Hours Needed

Hello. First post in this subreddit.

This post is directed towards teachers or former teachers of an Eikaiwa school; what were your working hours like?

Some background about myself:

I’m an Indonesian citizen who moved to Tochigi Prefecture with a Specified Skilled Worker visa a few months ago, and currently work as a kitchen staff in a restaurant. While it is a great place to immerse with the language and I get to work with amazing people, I find the work hours (10AM to 9PM, almost no day offs on weekends and national holidays) to be less desirable day by day. I’m currently saving up funds for the next 1-2 years before changing careers, but I thought I should weigh my options now. I have a degree in International Relations from my home country and thought my best option is to change to an Engineering/Humanities visa. From what I’ve read regarding this visa so far, teaching English might be the only thing I could do with my current capabilities.

Your opinions could help me in deciding this career change and I would appreciate it either way it goes. I may or may not be willing to disclose some personal information that I left out in this post, depends on whether or not it will help with the discussion. Thank you for reading!
