Art teacher for primary / secondary schools in Japan?

Hi everyone !

For some context: currently working as a freelance illustrator / animator in London. I’m half Japanese & Bahraini and speak fluently, but I can only read and write Hiragana & Katakana (will be improving my Kanji ASAP). I also have a Foundation degree in art, a BA in graphic design and a MA in character animation at a very prestigious arts university with a high ranking, all with top grades. I’ve been working part time in nurseries and will be starting a 1 year program to get the PGCE from the summer. After that ends, I was hoping to move to Tokyo to start as an art teacher at a primary or secondary international school. I would prefer primary but I’m not going to be picky and get what I can get (lol).

I was wondering what exactly is the career path I should be taking to achieve this ? Would it be best to work in an international school in Bahrain for 2 years before making the move to Tokyo, or do I have any chance of getting into a school there straight after the PGCE? The PGCE gives you 2 terms at a British school as an assistant, but I don’t know if this is really enough to land a international school job that quickly.

All advice is very much appreciated , thank you for your time ! 🙂
