Hello y’all, so I’m a first and final year Kyoto JET. I am completely and totally burnt out on not just teaching, but living in Japan in general. I will not break contract, I feel I have an obligation to my school and coworkers to stay, but I’m for real I’ve found I have zero passion for or interest in teaching and quite honestly I’ve lost the passion for Japan I had before coming here. I have a really great placement and there’s nothing wrong with, like, the culture of my school or anything, it’s just a simple “my job makes me miserable” situation lol. Not really having a rock-solid friend group or a way to pursue my true interests and passions over here just makes it all worse.
I’m planning to save some money and try to go back to music school when my contract ends, but for now, I need some advice on how to make it all manageable. Anyone else feeling the same or got some suggestions on what to do?
