So I applied for a warehouse / forklift position overseas. I currently already have been living overseas for almost 10 years so it was fairly easy to apply. Close to a month later I got an email congratulating me on being picked for the position but they stated that it was a tentative offer pending background checks which I have no issue with. I immediately emailed him and told him that I want to move forward and after that he sent me some documents to fill out which I immediately did and sent them back to him. The documents that he initially sent to me were three background checks , for the Marine base, the Air Force base, and the other for the Army and a fourth document for sofa status. They recently changed the rules where even if you’re working on one base they do background checks for all of them. After that it was radio silence for a bit until I took it upon myself to call him and ask him about if he received my documents and the progress of everything. By this time about 2 weeks had passed and I asked him if there was anything else that I could get to him to help move this process along. He told me to send in my DD-214, Social Security card, Passport, etc.. I sent all of that in to him and once again no acknowledgment of him receiving it through email or a phone call and I haven’t heard anything since. I noticed this guy doesn’t email back or call but if you call him he will pick up the phone and will acknowledge reception of your documents. I just don’t get what’s going on with this. This one seems so certain and I actually passed on another position because of it because this one paid more, offered certifications, and the onboarding process was much less of a headache. Has anyone else been through this? I don’t know what the heck is going on and the radio silence is killing me. I’m still applying to stuff but it is kind of weird that he hasn’t been in contact after our last conversation where he said he will be in contact soon to move forward. How long does the process take from tentative offer to actually coming in and doing orientation? Any advice on this would be greatly appreciated.
