Shirasagi Limited Express at Maibara, seat reservations recommended?

Are the two non-reserved cars on the Shirasagi Limited Express trains from Maibara toward Kanazawa usually filled up, i.e. should I get a seat reservation for my trip this weekend, or just buy a non-reserved seat? I’m getting on at Maibara and heading northward. The Hokuriku Shinkansen opens this weekend so I’m worried about it being more full than normal, but not sure what “normal” is like, and not sure how much this will affect stuff.

The reserved seats (excluding the Green Car) are about 70% full right now, as seen here: https://imgur.com/a/q1SBVll …but, again, I’m not sure what the unreserved cars will be like, who will be getting on/off where, etc. Maibara is a big transfer station (between JR West & JR Central) so I assume _some_ people will be getting off, and I can line up about 10-15 minutes early (this is what I do when getting unreserved seats on the shinkansen), but I haven’t taken this train/route before so I’m not sure what to expect. I assume I’ll be allowed to stand in the unreserved cars if there’s no seats left? That wouldn’t be too horrible as it’s only a half hour ride to where I’m going…

Thanks for any insight anyone might have!
