Hi all. I was in Japan 2019/2020, and was one of the people who travelled during the school holidays and ended up not being able to get back into the country due to COVID (I was on a student visa). From my country, I paid my rent til end of contract but I didn’t pay my NHI (probably like 7 months of it?) as I was not there (and also didn’t know how).
Now I’m returning on a WHV and am applying to apartments, who all insist on a guarantor company being used. I’m worried the potential unpaid NHI might somehow come up and I will get rejected. Does anyone know if this happens/doesn’t happen?
Also if anyone knows, will I have to pay the NHI bill from 4 years ago? (not my fault I couldn’t return, to be fair?)
