My friend and I are planning a trip to Japan in May. We were hoping to get a proper onsen experience in or around Kyoto (Nara maybe? Or Hakone? Right before our flight back via Tokyo) during the last leg of our journey.
Any recommendations would be appreciated. As we book we’re struggling to understand the difference between onsens’s, ryokans and what to look out for.
