Hello – I’ll try to keep it brief, my fiance and I are taking our honeymoon to Japan May 9th to 23th, first international trip (outside of America) for me.
We were provided with an itinerary from a travel agency but are going to try and book everything ourselves, and are having a little trouble with the best way to get around / how to order passes for the trains, etc. Should these be done ahead of time? If not, how would be go about it once we’re there?
Flights and hotels are already booked.
We’ll be in Tokyo (3 nights) -> Hakone (2 nights) -> Kyoto (4 nights) -> Osaka (2 nights) -> Tokyo (3 nights).
This is what the itinerary suggested for ground transportation- how would we go about getting the passes, are there better/easier options, etc?
May 9th:
-Shuttle Bus from Narita Airport to Tokyo Hotel (2 seats)
– IC Transport Card (2)
– Mobile WiFi Device (15 day rental, including delivery/full insurance/unlimited data) (obviously not necessary if expensive)
May 12th:
-Train: Tokyo (Hamamatsucho) (2x ADL, fare ticket, ordinary) to
-Train: Tokyo (Shinagawa) to Odawara (2x ADL, Shinkansen Super Express, ordinary)
-3 Day Hakone Freepass (2)
May 14th:
-Train: Odawara to Kyoto (2x ADL, Hikari Super Express, ordinary)
May 18th:
-Train: Kyoto to Osaka (2x ADL, fare ticket)
May 20th:
-Train: Osaka (Shin-Osaka) to Tokyo (2 X ADL, Nozomi Super Express, ordinary)
May 23rd: Shuttle Bus from Hotel to Tokyo Narita Airport (2 seats)
