Another post about name/character-length causing problems. Apologies in advance.
I set up a Rakuten Securities account specifically for NISA and iDeco (I’m canceling the NISA, also for another unrelated name based issue), and the final procedures have just been completed. Lo and behold, despite my name initially registering correctly for the Securities account, Rakuten registered a version with JIS&T that is one character shorter than the correct version, with the furigana even missing a further character and not matching at all. Lovely.
From what I can find online, the registered name with JIS&T ‘shouldn’t’ be an issue when it comes to withdrawing further down the line, but this is Japan and this is Rakuten, so I am of course not optimistic.
Has anyone else experienced something similar, and if so, what happened?
(And yes, I have tried calling Rakuten multiple times and could not get through, whilst the AI and human chat options were not even the slightest bit helpful.)
