> The government is also set to open Japan to more foreign tourists by allowing unguided tours.
!!
> Prime Minister Fumio Kishida is expected to announce further easing in entry requirements and a higher cap on entrants Wednesday.
> The timing of the relaxation is still under consideration
My flight is on September 16th, I’m starting to have hope again.
LETTTSSS GOOOOO, finally I can dream again.
what is an unguided tour?????
Wait, now there are no need of a guide tour?
The wording is super weird. What exactly is an “unguided tour”?
Man just booked our 3-week European trip last week because we gave up hope Japan would be open later this year.
Fuck yes. I was worried about the tourthingy
If I can’t fly in and do whatever I want without any sort of questions or documentation then it’s a pass for me. The whole point (for me) is to run amok and do whatever I want/whatever money I have allows.
Lots of talk about the unguided tour/tour package without a conductor in JP side so be very wary.
I would expect the Kishida government to implement some sort of bullshit roundabout policy so it looks like they’re not letting everyone to fend for themselves.
edit:

NHK reporting that you will still need a tour agency to manage your itinerary (so you still gotta pay some $$$ lmao)
They could just cut their bullshit and get rid of all the restrictions like every other developed country.
It is arguably xenophobic and certainly neurotic.
Coupled with their absurd fascination with masks and social pressure, Japan just looks out of touch with reality and a fraction of its mighty former self.
Great, I did 2 round trips to Paris (400 km) to get a spouse visa for a 2 weeks visit, apparently for nothing.
I’ll be curious when this gets put into place. I am going to the US next week and will returning later in the month. I wonder if these new entry rules will be in place.
