Going for a 4 Week Trip, first draft of an itinerary, need recommendations

Hey folks!

I’m planning my first trip to Japan this year. It has been my childhood dream for as long as I can remember, so I’m really excited. Since the flight is so expensive, I want to stay as long as possible, which will be about 27 days.

I started out by basically combining three itineraries together and adding some things I know for sure I want to visit. However, I’m not sure if it’s too packed per day, and there are several days for which I have no plan at the moment. Maybe some of you guys can recommend something (another town, day trips, staying longer in one city + activities there). I really like anime and video games, and I’m into hiking as well. I’m not so much into museums, however I like walking through (old) historic streets and regions. Also I´m quite unsure about luggage. Normrally I don´t need a big suitcase (I´m fine with a Backpack), but I figured it be best because of figures and souvenirs I want to take with me? Then again this “hinders” me from stayin in more different places because I don´t want to take the suitcase with me for a simple day trip. Any suggestions on that dilemma?
