We’re travelling to Japan next week and looking for some tips on how to spend a spare day in Osaka and whether it’s worth going on a day trip anywhere instead of staying in the city. We were planning on Universal but it doesn’t sound like it would be worth the hassle.
Should mention we’re not really foodies (one veggie and one a very picky eater).
Our itinerary looks like this:
Friday
– AM leave Tokyo
– Osaka Castle
– Tsutenkaku
– Dotonbori
Saturday
?
Sunday
Leave Osaka shipping luggage forward
Nara AM
Travel to Kyoto PM
I’m thinking either spend the Friday in Tokyo and move the Osaka day to the Saturday.
Stick with Friday and visit Nara on the Saturday which means we could leave early Sunday and go straight to Kyoto.
Or lastly have a day trip from Osaka, perhaps to Hiroshima with a stop off to visit Himeji Castle.
So far planning has been pretty simple but this has really thrown me off, having heard how busy Saturdays are especially when we’ll be travelling in the middle of the blossom season it’s been difficult to figure out what to do.
Any tips or ideas for some day trips will be fantastic.
