Is it possible to own a vehicle in Japan without residency?

TLDR is the title, is it possible to own a vehicle in Japan without being a resident, this would include being able to cover any other requirements like buying a long term parking space.

Long version:

A goal I’ve thought about lately is being able to get a keitruck or a van, fit it out for camping and be able to explore Japan.

Ideally I’d be able to do this by living and working in Japan and having the camper for my spare time (or full time depending on my work situation). But there are a variety of family, financial, and other factors that may make this never work out for me.

Today I was thinking maybe it would be possible to get the truck and a place to keep it year round and do the fit-out and travelling during holidays whenever I can visit Japan.

But would this work? I can imagine residency might be required for at least the parking/storage place.

I’m going to google a bit as well but I’d appreciate anyone who has the time to talk about it here.
