I’m talking with a japanese native in tandem and he was frustrated that he is beginner in english to what i wanted to reply “no problem, nobody is born knowing” this is a common phrase in spanish and i don’t know if it’s used in english. I tried to put that in japanese but it didn’t check with the translator so i tried translating from spanish to japanese “nadie nace sabiendo” which is translated as “生まれつき知っている人はいない”. Basically my question is what is the purpose of つき afrer umare.

I think 生まれつき it’s like more of a set expression.
It comes from the word つく, which is often attached to other verbs. On its own it means something like “to be attached”, but it has many other potential uses and translations, especially when connected to verbs or used in set phrases (such as 嘘つく- to lie). 生まれつき means “by nature” or “by birth”, as in some sort of trait is “attached” to you at birth.
Keep in mind that つく is used in a lot of different ways, and will often have different nuances and translations based on the phrase you find it in.
