I was under the impression that Rakuten calculates their happy program levels according to your combined assets within the Rakuten group (in my case Bank account plus securities in Nisa).
However, I just purchased a bunch of Nisa, which caused my bank account cash level to drop below ¥3 million. The happy program level has now been demoted to VIP. It’s going to get even lower as I purchase more Rakuten securities and I’ll lose all the perks.
Is this normal?

The Happy Programme is offered by Rakuten Bank. Many of the other entities under the Rakuten Group seem to offer you heaps of Rakuten points instead. If you want to qualify for the Super VIP, only your balances on the bank is counted.
