After hearing some stories were things didnt go smoothly entering japan with engagement rings, I’m concerned that getting a ring through customs might be tricky.
According to the customs form I need to declare gold bullion and or products of gold that I’m bringing into the country, if I don’t I’m subject to potential fines. However, because im traveling with my partner this would definitely arouse suspicion if my bag is examined.
It’s technically a personal item, so does anyone know whether I really need to declare this? The ring itself would be white gold ring with a value of around £1000 roughly.
If I really have to declare it, what’s the best way to avoid suspicion from my partner and immigration.
[Since I havent finalised the ring yet, does a platinum ring have to be declared?]
