Can you buy advance shinkansen tickets for another prefecture?

My route of travel is
🛬 Osaka > 🚅 to Kyoto > 🚅 to tokyo.
I was wondering if I can already buy advance tickets at Shin-Osaka stn (when I buy tickets going to kyoto) from kyoto to tokyo without having to do it at kyoto station?

  1. You can buy Shinkansen ticket at any stations with ticket office.

    You probably don’t need Shinkansen from Osaka to Kyoto.

  2. Kyoto to Osaka is more efficient thru local trains or other limited express trains like the JR thunderbird. Those trains let you off in the heart of Osaka. Shin-Osaka would require a transfer to get to places like Umeda and Namba.
