I’ve been trying to use haiku to practice, but… I have no idea whether to count certain sounds towards the structure.
Is “じゃ” one syllable (*ja*) or two (じ,ゃ)? Is “学校” two (が,っこう), three (が,っ,こう/が,っこ,う), or four (が ,っ,こ,う)? And that’s not even getting into katakana (is ー counted separately? Hybrid sounds like ファ?).
