Our child was born in the U.K. (British / Japanese parents). Unfortunately we missed the three month cut off to register while living in the U.K. and automatically assumed British citizenship. We’re now living in Japan.
I wanted to know roughly what the process would be for me to obtain Japanese citizenship for them. I haven’t got round to it, but now I feel it’s the right thing to do now we’ve settled in Japan and they’re getting older.
I was previously put off, because I’d read there was an interview to attend in Tokyo but I also read it could be a simpler process for a minor. Mother is Japanese.
If anyone has any info it would be much appreciated. Sorry if this has been posted before but I couldn’t find it.
