So we have had a condominium for the better part of a decade and the 組合 are generally unfriendly to us in other ways but I’ll keep it simple.
Preliminarily, the building is older. Looks great on the outside but there are some issues with both electrical and plumbing which we’ve encountered. Also, we’re not dolts and we do the garbage right and keep the noise down etc. etc.
One such case was 5 years ago with our front loading dryer/washer and the pipes beneath it. Basically the pipes burst underneath and there was water damage on the downstairs neighbor’s ceiling. The stated reason was that there was “Gomi” in the pipes and we were to blame.
We use and maintain our washer like normal, responsible people…
Around the same time the pipes suddenly burst in our ceiling and damaged the ceiling in our own apartment.
Anyway it happened again recently and the 組合 fellow is livid. He’s blocking the management company from doing any kind of 調査 stating it is our fault this happened again. No communication from either of them and I had to discover this by calling the management company directly, twice.
Anyway we’re going to buy a new washing machine, apologized to the downstairs neighbor and bought them a gift and we’ll do whatever we can to avoid this again, but I really feel this guy is out of line with the approach.
1) No check was done to find the official cause of the break and he reported it was our fault again
2) No communication from the 組合 or the 管理会社 about the next steps
Not to mention, this guy asked to come into our apartment in the middle of the night two years ago as for no reason our fire alarm was going off (we were sleeping with the air conditioners on was deemed to be the cause…)
Anyway now we’re left waiting unable to use our washer and having to either pay for someone to check the pipes ourselves (fine if necessary) or wait until the routine pipe cleaning which is weeks away.
Advice from anyone on how to proceed with this?
What right does the 組合 have to report the cause of an incident without checking at all?
My biggest fear is the 組合 ganging up and trying to get a court order for us to leave.
