Hi all, we’ll be traveling to japan on 4/6/24 with our 1yo toddler and mother-in-law with the hope of cherry blossom chasing. This is our second trip to Japan and first for the MIL. The initial plan was to hit the major sites in Tohoku region (Sendai, Morioka, Aomori, and Akita) via the 5day JR East Tohoku Area Pass but upon checking the sakura forecasts it seems as though we’ll be a week or two too early and thus skipping Aomori all together. Please take a look at my current plan below and see if it makes sense. TIA
4/7 Arrive @ Haneda – check in airbnb (in asakusa) and nearby dinner
4/8 Tokyo – Sensoji, Ueno park, Nezu shrine, Chidorigafuchi, Meguro
4/9 Activate 5day JR Tohoku pass Tokyo to Sendai
\- is it feasible to stop by Hanamiyama Park for a couple hours prior to Sendai arrival?
\-leave luggage @ sendai station and do the Matsushima Bay boat ride
\-check in hotel and rest, check out Tsutsujigaoka Park
4/10 early day trip to Yamadera
\-stopping by Rinnoji temple on the way back
\- enough time to go Shiroishi River Sakura Festival after Yamadera?
4/11 Sendai to Kitakami Tenshochi Cherry Blossom festival (2024 forecasts said we’re too early) or to Hiraizumi?
\-check in hotel in Morioka
\-Morioka castle ruin, rock-splitting tree
4/12 Morioka to Kakunodate
\-not sure what else to do in Morioka after returning from Kakunodate
4/13 Morioka to Tokyo
4/14 Tokyo
4/15 day trip Tokyo to Kamakura
4/16 Fly home
